Newly unified light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley has declared Amir Khan as his number one target after he disposed of Devon Alexander in Michigan.

And the statement was met with a warm reaction from the WBA champion, who sat on the panel for the television coverage of the US fight.

An accidental head butt in the 10th round left ‘Alexander the Great’ claiming the vision from his left eye was impaired.

That forced the referee to bring the anti-climactic contest to a premature end, and it went to the scorecards.

Alexander seemed unwilling to fight on - perhaps thinking the judge’s had him ahead.

But it was ‘Desert Storm’ Timothy Bradley who improved his record to 27-0, after a unanimous point’s decision meant he unified the WBO and WBC titles.

He said: “I proved that I'm a force to be reckoned with, I proved I'm the best at 140 in the world.

“I think I've got to take out Amir Khan next and then there's no doubt that I'm the best 140-pound fighter in the world.

“But the key name on the list down the road is Manny Pacquiao.”

Fighting away from home does not daunt the American, who travelled to Nottingham in 2008 and took the title from around the waist of Junior Witter.

And he has previously said he would love to come back to the UK to fight Khan.

However, before anything is arranged, the Bolton fighter still has to find an opponent for his April date at the M.E.N Arena, following the breakdown in communications with Paul McCloskey.
