Money on Manchester United ace Scholes to take Oldham Athletic job

According to reports significant wagers have been made on Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes landing the vacant Oldham Athletic job.

Scholes’ odds to succeed Paul Dickov have been slashed from 16-1 outsider to 7/4 favourite with Sky Bet.

The 38-year-old, a lifelong Oldham fan, is believed to be in the frame after Dickov stepped aside on Sunday afternoon as the Latics' poor league form continued with defeat at Walsall on Saturday.

Sky Bet football trader Chris Spicer said: "We initially made Scholes available to back as a sort of novelty option, but within 24 hours he's received the most interest.

"Oldham is a club known to be close to his heart, so if he was to receive a player-manager offer then perhaps he might find it too hard to turn down."

"Do your research! Scholes always has been a United fan. His old man only took him to see Oldham play when they couldn't get to watch United" TheCat, Ireland around 3 months, 2 weeks ago
