Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson praised the contribution of Javier Hernandez in the 3-2 win at Aston Villa.

The deadly Mexican came off the bench to help turn a 2-0 deficit into a 3-2 win at Villa Park

United looked in serious danger of slumping to their third defeat of the season when Villa doubled their lead five minutes after the break.

However, Hernandez pulled one back and saw another shot from Hernandez deflected home via Villa defender Ron Vlaar.

The Mexico international then grabbed an 87th-minute winner, heading in a Robin van Persie free-kick.

Ferguson enthused: "I've been saying it for weeks, that he's such a great professional.

"He doesn't complain. We do prefer that one striker with one playing behind.

"It didn't work today in the first half but when Javier came on and Robin dropped a bit deeper, and Wayne went out to the left-hand side, you had a feeling that if we got a goal we would go on and win it."
