According to reports Anderson’s switch from Manchester United to Benfica looks to be nearing.

The Portuguese are understood to be interested in the Brazilian as boss Sir Alex Ferguson looks set to cut his losses on the midfielder.

It is believed that the Portuguese giants are prepared to cash in on £20 million-rated Axel Witsel and see Anderson as the perfect replacement.

The 24-year-old Brazilian arrived at United in 2007 for £18 million, but has frustrated fans with his variable performances.

He had been earmarked as a long-term replacement for Paul Scholes after his much-hyped arrival from Porto but has failed to take over his mantle.
