According to reports Ryan Giggs is set to battle for the honour of skippering Team GB at the London Olympics.

The Manchester United ace was named in Stuart Pearce’s final squad.

Wales Online claims Giggs and his former Wales teammate Craig Bellamy are in the frame to be handed the captain’s armband

It seems Pearce is set to ask one of his Welsh over-age players to be the figurehead as he looks to create history, with Giggs tipped to edge out Bellamy to the honour.

Pearce said: “It will be a fantastic opportunity to captain this once in a lifetime team that we are putting together. The first time we come together I will sit him down and tell him.”
