England captain Steven Gerrard reckons Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney will make a difference against Ukraine at Euro 2012 tonight.

The United star is back in action for the Three Lions after serving a two-match suspension which has seen him miss the first two group matches.

Gerrard says the striker is ‘itching’ to get involved and help his country out of the group.

"Everyone knows what Wayne Rooney is all about," Gerrard told reporters, "he certainly makes us a lot more threatening going forward.

"He’s a world class player and I know Wayne quite well, I’m quite close to him, and I can see it in his eyes that he’s just itching to get out there and perform.

“Hopefully he can get out there on Tuesday night and make the difference for us."
