According to reports Manchester United are battling Bayern Munich for Athletic Club star Javi Martinez.
talkSPORT claims Bayern are looking to revamp their squad after their Champions League failure at the weekend.
However, it seems United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is also keen on the versatile defender – who can also play in midfield – after watching him help the Bilbao club dump his side out of the Europa League.
Athletic do not want to lose any of their stars this summer but Munich entering the race could spark an auction for Martinez, with around £32 million thought to be the sort of price the La Liga club would hold out for.
