Manchester United defender Chris Smalling has been ruled out of this summer’s Euro 2012 tournament due to a groin injury.
Smalling picked up the injury during last Sunday's 2-0 victory over Swansea City at Old Trafford.
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed: "Chris has suffered a bad injury.
“It is a groin muscle injury and he'll miss the European Championship."
Striker Danny Welbeck will miss the final game of the season at Sunderland with an ankle injury, but is expected to be available to new England manager, Roy Hodgson.
Ferguson said: "He should be fit for the Euros."
