Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is still fuming about his side’s inexplicable capitulation at home to Everton.
After watching his side concede the title initiative to bitter local rivals Manchester City, losing 1-0 at the Etihad Stadium, Ferguson pointed to the loss of two goals in the final seven minutes at Old Trafford as the turning point.
The shock result allowed City back into a title race they appeared to have lost when they were eight points behind just four matches ago.
"You can look back at all sorts of games but you've got to look at the Everton one," he said.
"That was a ridiculous performance for the last seven minutes to lose two goals. That's maybe cost us the league.
"We know we need to win two games of football, that's another way of looking at it. Of course, we're certainly not in the driving seat anymore."
