Manchester United fullback Rafael set for axe after Everton debacle

Manchester United defender Rafael da Silva is set to be casualty of the capitulation against Everton last weekend.

The Mirror reports that the Brazilian will be dropped for Monday night's crucial derby at Manchester City.

It is understood that United’s young right-back was earmarked as the main culprit in Sunday’s 4-4 draw at Old Trafford and was left in no uncertain terms where he stood with manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Rafael is now set to be axed for the title showdown at the Etihad Stadium.

"Bollocks. Rio gave the ball away needlessly before the last goal. His pass was very poor and it lead to the goal. Rafael was not to blame!" mocthezuma, Dublin around 1 year ago
