Borussia Dortmund chief Hans-Joachim Watzke remains hopeful of keeping Shinji Kagawa.
The Japan international has been linked with a move to England as he stalls on new contract talks.
Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool have all been mentioned as potential destinations.
"We want to keep him and extend his contract. He wants to go to England? I don't know, but I keep hearing things in the press," said Watzke.
"Kagawa is known to believe in the rebuilding process going on at Dortmund. Why would anyone leave a weekly attendance of 82000 for 45000?"
