Manchester City's Joe Hart looking forward to playing against team-mate Mario Balotelli

Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart has revealed he is looking forward to playing against his club team-mate Mario Balotelli on Sunday night.

England meet Italy in the quarter finals of the European Championships and Hart has admitted it will be ‘fun’ to play against the controversial striker.

‘I've never actually played against the guy but it would be a lot of fun,’ said Hart.

Hart outlined the quality of the enigmatic Balotelli, but believes another of his club mates, Joleon Lescott will be able to deal with the former Inter man.

He could be a great threat - he's a great player. He is an extravagant guy but he has broad shoulders and whatever is written about him he doesn't let affect him. He lets things slide off.

‘But importantly Joleon knows him as well and I've seen them battle it out in training. But it will be fun and interesting to see what he brings to the game.’

Hart also claimed he would not have a problem with taking a penalty should the situation call for it on Sunday night.

Hart famously scored the winning penalty for the under-21s in their
2009 European Championship semi-final win over Sweden and insisted he would back himself to do the same in the senior Championships.

'Hopefully it won't come to taking penalties, but I would back myself (to take a penalty) in a tournament. If penalties are required then so be it.

'As much as anyone else, I do like to take my penalties.’
