Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini open to new contract talks

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini had admitted he would like to negotiate a new contract.

Mancini joined City in December 2009 and has just one year left to run on his current deal.

However, after leading City to their first title for 44 years, Mancini would like to continue on at the Etihad Stadium beyond the end of next season.

‘There is the basis to open talks,’ said Mancini.

‘I have not yet talked about the new contract, but I'm happy to work here.’

The Italian also revealed that winning a title away from his homeland was a dream come true.

‘Winning abroad is my dream. One day I'd like to win the Spanish Liga but also the Portuguese league with Benfica. There are clubs that have made football history: I am ready for anything, but now I just think about City.’

The former Inter manager claimed the best team won, after two injury time goals from Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero gave City the 3-2 win over QPR that clinched the title on Sunday.

‘It is very deserved. We made 89 points. We scored more than anyone. We played the best football. And we twice beat United. Beating opponent like United, after a championship like this, increases our own merits.’ He added.
