Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure eyes Barcelona return

Yaya Toure has stunned Manchester City fans by admitting he would welcome a return to Barcelona.

The news comes just days before City play QPR in the final game of the Premier League season, where a win would see them crowned Champions for the first time in 44 years.

Toure has played a huge part in City’s title charge this season and has become an integral member of the squad since joining from Barca for £24m in 2010.

He scored winning goals in both FA Cup semi-final and final victories over Manchester United and Stoke City respectively as well as bagging a brace at Newcastle United last weekend to put Roberto Mancini’s side within touching distance of the their first Premier League trophy.

The Ivorian still has three years left on his £220,000-a-week contract but declared his love for the team he completed a unique Treble with in 2009.

‘I love Barca,’ said Toure, speaking to Spanish radio station Rac1.

'I said two years ago that I would return. It has been the most important team for me. And if they call, you don’t think twice.

‘I love the city and Barca has always been the club of my life. I have a lot of desire to return to Barcelona Football Club.’

The comments are likely to come as a shock to City fans who recently read of Toure’s desire to ‘make history’ with their side and help them to more trophies.
