Carlos Tevez has admitted he wants to remain at Manchester City beyond this season.
The Argentina striker’s future was in doubt after he refused to warm up in a Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena in September.
City boss Roberto Mancini declared at the time that Tevez was ‘finished’ at the Etihad and the January transfer window saw intense speculation on a daily basis about the former Manchester United man.
Moves to Corinthians, AC Milan, Inter and Paris St Germain all failed to materialise and Tevez came back into the first team fold in March and claimed an assist for Samir Nasri’s winning goal in the 2-1 victory over Chelsea.
And Tevez has now said he intends to stay at City, as they close in on their first title for 44 years.
‘I’m an ambitious person, I want to work hard and win things with City. That’s all that matters to me as a player and a person,’ said Tevez.
‘I’ve been here since the start of that project and I share the same vision as Sheikh Mansour.
‘He has always been brilliant with me and I want to repay his faith and stay here as long as it takes to make the project a success.’
Tevez also insists there are no lingering problems between himself and Mancini.
‘My relationship with the manager is totally fine, he’s been as good as gold with me and there have been absolutely no problems.
‘He wants to win games and be successful and if I can play a part in helping to do that, then that’s what I will work hard to do.
‘Yes, there’s been a lot said and written this season but that’s in the past. Everybody at the club shares the same goal, Roberto, me, the other players and all the staff.’
Tevez added he has been happy since his return and is just concentrating on playing for City.
‘I’ve felt great since I came back in February, very relaxed and content and just pleased to be back playing football for Manchester City again.’
