Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has claimed Manchester United will still be favourites to lift the Premier League title regardless of the outcome of Monday night’s derby clash.
City entertain their fierce local rivals at the Etihad Stadium in what is being billed as the biggest derby game of all time.
A win for City would seem them go level on points with Sir Alex Ferguson’s men but ahead on goal difference, however, Mancini has played down any potential City win.
‘Even if we win this game, I think they are favourites,’ said Mancini.
‘After us, United will play against Swansea and Sunderland - I think for them that will be two easy games.’
Whilst many in the City camp have stated their intention to keep going until the end of the season, Mancini conceded defeat in the title race after their 1-0 defeat at Arsenal on Easter Sunday.
The Italian claimed the title was ‘finished’ after Mikel Arteta’s strike gave the Gunners a 1-0 win and the former Inter manager has continued downplaying his side’s chances.
‘I think that they have more chance than us because we play a derby on Monday and then we play against Newcastle - which will be a tough game.’
