Manchester City they will lift the Premier League title according to their former striker Uwe Rosler.
City currently trail local rivals Manchester United by three points but meet on Monday night at the Etihad Stadium in the biggest game of the season.
City’s superior goal difference means a win would put them top and Rosler – who played for City from 1994-1998 – thinks City have the edge going into Monday’s clash.
‘I think this is our year,’ said Rosler.
‘Obviously we have the advantage playing on our own turf, in front of our own fans, but I think if somebody said before the season started that with three games to go you would have a chance to go ahead of Manchester United and then have two games to go with your fate in your own two hands to win the title, I think everybody would have taken that.’
Rosler, who now manages Brentford has spoken of the ‘positive pressure’ on the team as they head into Monday night.
‘I think everybody should be excited, not anxious because we have everything to win and nothing to lose. I would say it is positive pressure around the team.’
The German also believes Roberto Mancini’s side have the quality to overcome their fierce local rivals and has urged them to play with that belief.
‘We have undoubted quality in our football club and in our team. We are more than capable of beating United at home.
‘It is very important that we address that game with confidence – after all, we have reasons to be confident – and approach the task in a positive manner.’
