According to reports Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill is interesting Manchester United.

The Daily Star claims United have started looking for a replacement for the injury-plagued Rio Ferdinand.

It seems Wanderers’ highly-regarded Cahill is on manager Sir Alex Ferguson's list of possible replacements.

When last asked about Ferdinand’s fitness problems over a month ago, Fergie said: “You have to remember Rio’s been in first-team football since he was 17.

“That’s a long time so he will pick up these little strains – but I’m sure this isn’t a long-term thing.”
