Concern is growing for a Greater Manchester man who went missing after attending a Stone Roses gig.

Christopher Brahney, 22, has not been seen since about 11.30pm on Friday 29th June, when he was with friends at the band's show in Heaton Park.

Brahney, a Timperley resident, is white, with short brown hair and a slim build. He was last seen wearing a dark blue top, light blue shirt, maroon trousers and green wellington boots.

Police have received reports that Brahney used the Park and Ride facility at Bowlee Park, Heywood Old Road, towards Middleton. He may have been sighted getting off a bus at about 12am on Saturday 30th June.

Reports claim that he lost his Sony Ericsson phone at the gig, and returned to the venue to retrieve it. He allegedly spoke with a group of young women at the Park and Ride.

An extensive search operation is under way. Mountain rescue volunteers have helped investigative officers comb the area, police divers have checked the park's lake, and more than 3,000 people have joined a Facebook group called 'Help Find Chris Brahney'.

Numerous celebrities have also pledged their support to the cause, including the Stone Roses themselves, TV host Holly Willoughby, and DJs Steve Lamacq and Clint Boon.

Detective Chief Inspector Melani Linton, said: “Christopher’s family are clearly very worried about him and are desperate for any information relating to his whereabouts.

“We believe Chris may have used the park and ride facility at Bowlee Park, Heywood Old Road, Middleton. There were dozens of coaches in the car park with destinations all over the country.

“Chris could have got on one of these coaches, did you see him or speak to him?

“I would urge anyone with any information to contact the police, this could be vital to our investigation and provide some much needed answers for his family.

“Christopher, if you see or hear this appeal, we would ask that you make contact with us or your family as soon as possible.”

Police have released a recent photograph of Brahney and are appealing for anyone with information to call 0161 856 7652.
