A motorcyclist was killed in a traffic collision in Greater Manchester yesterday evening.

Gavin Boyce, 29, was riding a Suzuki motorbike on Ashton Road West in Clayton at around 7.55pm when he was involved in a collision with a Ford Focus.

The victim, from Stalybridge, was rushed to Manchester Royal Infirmary with multiple injuries, but later died as a result of them. A police investigation is under way.

Boyce's family said in tribute: "Gavin was the most generous man this world could hold. A loving fiancée, son, dad, brother, uncle and a true loyal friend to so many.

"Too good for this world, that's why he's gone to a better place. Precious moments with Gavin will stay in our hearts forever. He was fondly remembered and so sadly missed by all who knew him. One in a million."

Police Sergeant Daniel Byrne said: "Our sympathies are with Gavin's family at this tragic time, as they try to come to terms with the loss of their loved one.

"An investigation is ongoing into the circumstances surrounding this collision, and I am anxious to hear from anyone who saw the collision or anyone who was driving on Ashton New Road beforehand."

Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 0161 856 4742.

Meanwhile, Greater Manchester Police is inviting the public to have their say on how police respond to, report and investigate road traffic collisions.

The consultation is open until 7th September and comments can be made through gmp.police.uk/dicingwithdeath or by writing to the ACPO lead for the investigation of fatal and life changing road collisions across England and Wales, ACC Sean White via Cleveland Police Headquarters, PO Box 70, Ladgate Lane, Middlesbrough, TS8 9EH.
