Police are appealing to the public for information that may help trace a man wanted in connection with a sexual assault in Manchester.

At around 4pm on 4th July, a 16-year-old girl was approached by the offender and led to a canal path off Blackfriars Street, where the attack took place.

The suspect is described as being Indian, between 30 and 40 years old, with uneven teeth. He was wearing a black turban and had a dark moustache and beard.

Detective Constable Dave Ogden, of north Manchester CID, said: "The victim has provided a detailed description of the offender that has allowed us to issue a detailed digital image of the person we want to trace.

"I would urge people to look closely at this image and if it resembles someone they know to please call us.

"I would also like to hear from anyone who was in the area when this happened or at any time since and has seen someone matching this description."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 3540, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
