A Manchester band have revived comedian Ricky Gervais' flop music career with a cover of his biggest hit.
Indie group Super 8 Cynics have recorded a cover of The Office star's second and last single, "Bitter Heart".
The original video featured frontman Gervais dressed in comical shoulder pads with big hair and make-up.
The track only reached number 79 in the UK charts in 1983 and Gervais’ band, Seona Dancing, split the following year.
But Manchester band Super 8 Cynics believes their "modernised" version stands a good chance of hitting the Top 40.
They received a warm blessing from Gervais and former bandmate Bill Macrae earlier this year.
Lead singer Ady Hall said: "Bitter Heart is a bit of a forgotten record, probably best known for its connection with Ricky Gervais.
"But strip away the shoulder pads and hair spray and at its heart you have a seriously catchy song worthy of greater recognition.
"We’ve rearranged the song, brought it up to date and made it our own. The entire band is proud of Bitter Heart and we believe it's a chart contender."
Bitter Heart by Super 8 Cynics, released by Longevity Records, is available now from iTunes. To see the official video visit www.super8cynics.com.
