A woman was charged today following the death of her two-year-old son in Bolton.
Rio Smedley died from severe abdominal injuries after being rushed to Royal Bolton Hospital following reports that he had gone into cardiac arrest.
Kirsty Smedley, 23, has been charged with allowing or causing the death of a child.
Police were called to a house on Cheriton Drive, Breightmet, Bolton around 5.45pm on Sunday 22.
Smedley appeared before Bolton Magistrates' Court today and is due to appear at Manchester Crown Court tomorrow.
A 23-year-old man was already charged in connection with the boy's death.
