Greater Manchester traffic collision claims second victim

A woman who was seriously wounded in traffic collision in Greater Manchester has died from her injuries.

Leah Davies, 19, was involved in a crash at the junction of Fourmarts Road and Hillridge Road in Wigan that had already claimed the life of 18-year-old Ryan Smith.

The incident occurred at around 11.25pm on Sunday 29th July when a yellow Honda motorbike collided with a black Yamaha, before striking a third motorcycle, a grey Yamaha that was parked at the side of the road.

All three riders were thrown from their vehicles and rushed to hospital with serious injuries. Davies died in hospital in the early hours of Sunday morning, 5th August.

PC Paul Hailwood from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "Our thoughts are with the families of all of those involved in this collision.

"Specially trained officers are supporting families at this difficult time, whilst trying to come to terms with the loss of their loved ones.

"An investigation is ongoing into the circumstances surrounding this collision, and I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed it to contact us."
