A couple from Greater Manchester is celebrating after winning a cool £1 million in the EuroMillions Millionaire Raffle.
Fred and Maureen Holt, 80 and 77, are now planning how to spend their fortune and have identified taking care of their family as a the priority.
The Oldham couple, who have been wed for 32 years, both have previous marriages and have seven children, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren between them.
After treating their families, Fred is planning to purchase a Jaguar XS and Maureen is undergoing cosmetic dentistry before the two embark on a cruise to the Far East.
Fred, a former Royal Navy engineer and security firm employee, said: "I spent a lot of time out in Hong Kong when I was in the Navy and I’ve always wanted to go back and see how it’s changed.
"It was my 80th birthday the day after the draw and we’ve already got lots of holidays arranged as birthday gifts from our children. That will keep us busy for the next few months so we are planning to wait and go on a cruise of the Far East next year."
Maureen, who bought the winning ticket, added: "The win is amazing – it just came out of the blue and means we can look after our family and gives us security for the rest of our lives. It’s a wonderful feeling."
The Holts discovered their good fortune following an investigation by Camelot into an unclaimed jackpot. The firm notified the couple of their win on 22nd June.
Maureen purchased the winning ticket at the Tesco Extra on the Huddersfield Road, Oldham. She and her husband have been playing The National Lottery since its launch, and partake in Lotto and EuroMillions twice a week.
