A Greater Manchester man's home was damaged when a fire started by arsonists spread to the property from his car.

The 65-year-old victim was awoken by the sound of his car alarm on Wigan Road in Standish at around 4am on 30th June.

He looked out of his window to find his Ford Ranger aflame. The blaze spread to the house, causing a window to break and damage to drain pipes.

The car was completely destroyed.

Detective Constable Andrew Partington said: "This was a terrifying experience for the victim and the consequences of this incident could have been far more severe.

"We would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to call us."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 5307 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
