A 12-year-old boy who was involved in a horrific traffic collision in Manchester has died.
Umar Hussain, from the Deeplish area of Rochdale, was taken to hospital for treatment to serious head injuries after an accident at the junction of Manchester Road( A664) and Bolton Road (A58) but sadly died later.
Police were called to the scene shortly before 4pm on Thursday June 28 following reports of a collision between a Rover and the child.
Officers from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
Police Constable Paul Hailwood said: “Our thoughts are with Umar’s family, who have understandably been left devastated following the death of their young boy in the early hours of this morning.
“We have officers supporting them as best we can at this difficult time and are carrying out a thorough investigation to establish the full facts around what happened last night.
