Prince William has been thought of as tasty by female admirers.

But now the royal has been turned into a giant sweet to commemorate his 30th birthday this month.

The 20ft edible work of art took five hours to build and used more than 3,000 pieces of liquorice.

The mural, which took four artists to create, was commissioned by Finnish sweet company Panda Liquorice and put on display at Spinningfields in Manchester city centre.

The company now plans to send a framed picture of the mural to the Duke of Cambridge.

Jane Chavez-Dawson, lead artist and creator of the mural said: “This has been such a fun project, we’re big fans of Prince William and can hardly believe that he is 30 now.

“We’re also big Panda Liquorice eaters so planning this mural has brought together two loves.

"We had such great comments from passers by today, so we hope Prince William enjoys it!”

Lisa Gawthorne, of Panda Liquorice, added: “Big happy birthday to Prince William, we’re delighted to be sharing our 30th with him and hope this tribute brings a smile to the faces of both Wills & Kate.

“I’m not sure if they are fans of liquorice, but I’m sure we’ll send him some along with a picture of the mural!”
