Police have made an arrest following the discovery of a body in a canal in Manchester city centre.
Shortly before 1.50pm on Saturday 9th June, officers were called to Canal Street following reports that a body had been sighted in the water there.
A post-mortem examination was carried out, confirming that the cause of death was drowning, and that the victim suffered no other injuries.
The man was identified as 40-year-old Simon Brass, who lived in the Salford area.
A 14-year-old body has been arrested on suspicion of murder, and remains in police custody for questioning. Inquiries are ongoing.
Chief Superintendent Russ Jackson said: "As a result of information received from the community, we have made this arrest. However, we are still eager to talk to anyone who may have information as to what lead up to the discovery of the man's body."
