A 1940's Wartime Weekend is taking place at Greater Manchester railway stations to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

The event includes battle re-enactments, live music, and a military parade co-ordinated by the Greater Manchester Army Cadet Force and other Cadet units, led by The Fusiliers Corps of Drums.

It is being held at Bury Bolton Street, Heywood, and Ramsbottom stations, as well as at Lancashire's Rawtenstall station.

Live performances from The Forces Sweetheart, Marina Mae and Mr Paul Harper have already taken place, and visitors were given the opportunity to browse 1940's-themed stalls, take in exhibitions of wartime artwork, and see an array of military and period vehicles up close.

The festivities will continue into Monday, with a Jubilee Proms Convert featuring the Middleton Brass Band and The Forces Sweethearts at 2.00pm at St Paul's Church in Ramsbottom among the highlights.

All proceeds raised over the weekend will be donated to Bury Hospice, who provide support for people living with terminal or life-threatening illnesses.
