Police are seeking two men in connection with an assault in a Manchester takeaway.

The incident occurred at around 1.30am on Saturday 21st April at the Dixy Chicken takeaway in Shudehill.

A man and a woman were waiting for food when they were approached by their attacker. He struck the man in the face without warning, causing him to stumble.

The woman attempted to intervene, but was punched in the face and pushed by another man. Both offenders then left the shop in an unknown direction.

The male victim suffered cuts and bruises to his face, and the woman was left with facial bruises.

Police have released descriptions of both suspects, describing the first as being 5ft 8in tall, of stocky build with a goatee beard. He wore a low cut black t-shirt and spoke with a local accent

The second man is described as being 5ft 8in tall, of stocky build and spoke with a local accent.

Police Constable Sean Downey the Volume Crime Team said: "This was a completely unprovoked attack on two people who decided they wanted something to eat after a night out. It is an absolute disgrace that they were assaulted for no reason whatsoever and I would urge anyone who was in the takeaway that morning to contact us.

"Take a good look at the images. Do you recognise these men? If you do, please phone us."

Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 6112 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
