A heavily pregnant teenager has been robbed in Openshaw, Manchester.
The mugging took place on Louisa Street at around 1.50pm on 29 May when a 17-year-old girl, who was eight months pregnant, was seized from behind by two men.
Her handbag was ripped from her shoulder and she fell to the ground. The attackers took the bag, which contained the victim's mobile phone and other personal items, and fled.
The woman was not injured during the incident, and her baby appears to have been unharmed. However, she was left severely distressed by the ordeal.
Police describe the first man as white, around 5ft 5in tall, and of a slim build. He worse a black tracksuit bottoms and a black hooded top over his face on the night of the incident.
His accomplice was white, about 5ft 1in tall, of a heavy or fat build and wearing blue shorts and a black hooded top over his face.
Sergeant Chris Flint, of the Volume Crime Team based at North Manchester, said: "To rob a young girl who was quite visibly pregnant means the men we are looking for are not only utter cowards, but are clearly desperate.
"It is purely by luck, and not design, that this young woman and her unborn baby did not suffer any serious injuries but the sheer shock of what she and her child have had to endure is something no expectant mother should have to go through. Understandably, she is very shaken up.
"It is vital we find these men, and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed what happened to come forward. This happened in broad daylight and I would hope this appeal jogs someone's memory.
"I would also like to make a direct appeal to the thieves themselves. Do you realise what you have done? You could have caused serious problems for this young mum-to-be who should be excitedly looking forward to the birth of her child. Search your conscience, do the decent thing and turn yourself in."
Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 3913 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
