Bright spark Jordan Tominlinson is working ROVER-time to carve-out a new business.

Teenage entrepreneur Jordan is making a mint out of selling spare parts for old Rover cars.

His business "Rovers Returned" is fast becoming a driving force in the specialist used parts industry and Jordan has been hailed by business chiefs as inspirational.

The 17-year-old lad from Wigan has turned around his fortunes after struggling to find work like many young people across the UK.

But he set his mind on building his own business and now it is really motoring.

Jordan said: "Starting this business really is a dream come true for me.

"I picked Rover cars because there appeared to be a gap in the market and I thought I'd take the bull by the horns and go for it.

"Also my father has had a few of them in his time and they are good cars. It's a pity they don't make them any more.

"The business is still in its infancy but already we are kept busy every day so the signs are there that it will be a success story.

"The hope is that one day I will be able to expand and give another person like myself a job to be proud of.

"I just want to get my head down and grow on the success I've had so far."

Rovers Returned is a specialist breakers and parts repair service, catering for Rover and MG owners across the UK.

The new social enterprise sources and reconditions car parts for Rover and MG cars, as well as offer young people from Wigan the opportunity to gain experience working in the motor industry.

Since Rover ceased trading in 2005, spare parts for Rover and MG models have risen in price and can be difficult to source.

Many of the parts available to Rover and MG owners are manufactured by patent owners, which are expensive to produce and are often not made to the original manufacturer's specifications.

Rovers Returned has access to a vast array of parts for Rover, MG, RangeRover, LandRover and CityRover and is able to ship them within 24 hours of an order being placed.

Prior to establishing Rovers Returned, Jordan found himself in the same position as the 1.03million unemployed young people aged 16-24 in the UK.

Having left school with his qualifications in hand, Jordan was unable to secure a position in full time employment within the motor industry.

Despite gaining qualifications and work experience he was unable to find a paid job in the motor industry.

Jordan, from Ince-in Makerfield said: "Rovers Returned is the realisation of many months of hard work. I'm delighted the business is revving up and we have begun trading."

Returned was established with support from The School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE), Wigan Council and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Sylvia Pearson, Senior Development Manager for SSE North West said: "Jordan is a very inspirational young man and one who has developed a very intelligent social business model.

"There are many youngsters like Jordan in Wigan and Leigh who have found themselves in a situation where they have few options available to them.

"For such a young man, Jordan has taken on a huge responsibility, yet I have no doubt that Rovers Returned will be a huge success and offer huge value to the economy and to the local community."
