The family of young woman who was killed by a lorry that struck her while she was pushing her baby across a Bolton road have paid tribute to her.

Dawn Graves, 25, died in a collision with a lorry on Bury Road in Breightmet, Greater Manchester, shortly after 12.20pm on Thursday May 24.

Dawn’s 20-month-old son, who she was pushing at the time, was taken to hospital for treatment to minor injuries.

In a tribute, her family said: “Dawn was a beautiful, 25-year-old young woman with a bright future ahead of her.

“She was embarking on a new stage of her life and was due to get married in August to her fiancé.

“Dawn was a loving and caring daughter, mum and fiancée.

“She leaves behind a step daughter, daughter and son, who all loved her dearly.

“We have been left devastated and in complete shock by Dawn’s death.

“We ask to be left alone to grieve in peace at this very difficult time.”

The road was closed for several hours while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Sgt Matt Bailey-Smith, SCIU, said: "This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the family and friends at this difficult time.

“They are receiving support from a specially trained officer."
