A relative of one of the nine men jailed for running a child exploitation ring in Greater Manchester has opened up about her family's shame over his crimes.
The woman, going under the alias of Mariyam to protect her identity, said that the actions of her relative Adil Kahn made her "sick", and should have carried a harsher sentence.
Kahn, 42, of Oswald Street, Rochdale, was handed an eight-years jail sentence last week, after being convicted of conspiracy to have sex with a minor and child trafficking.
"People know that he is related and when they say, 'We know he is related to you but we've got to say this,' I reply, 'Just say what you want,' because at the end of the day, he is behind them bars and he got what he deserved," Miryam told the BBC.
Eight of Kahn's associates were given similar sentences based on evidence from five girls, who were in their early teens when the abuse took place between 2008 and 2010.
The offenders will serve a total of 77 years between them, but Mariyam believes that their punishments should have been more severe.
"It makes me sick when I think about it, they're going out and they are doing that. Most of them have probably got daughters the same age as those girls," she added.
"How can they walk out of their own houses knowing the fact that they have probably got daughters - some of them older than those girls and some younger - how can you walk out of your own door and do that to anybody's daughter?"
Greater Manchester Police predict that more abuse victim may now come forward, leading to further arrests.
