Police are seeking witnesses of a shooting in a Salford pub that happened at around 9.20pm on Wednesday 18th April.
A 23-year-old man was left with shotgun wounds to his leg following the incident at the Broadway Inn on Salford Quays.
The victim was sat alone in the pub when two men entered. One brandished a shotgun and fired to shots into the man's left leg before fleeing with his accomplice.
Armed officers were immediately deployed to the scene to search the premiss, and the wounded man was rushed to hospital, where he received treatment for his injuries.
Extra officers are patrolling the area and will be speaking with local residents. The scene remains cordoned off while a forensic examination is carried out.
Salford divisional commander Chief Superintendent Kevin Mulligan said: “People in Salford are bound to be concerned when they hear about what happened last night.
“I would like to try and reassure people that we do not believe this is a random attack and we are not linking this to any other incidents. From what we know so far, it would appear to be targeted.
“We have a team of detectives working hard to establish the full circumstances and I would encourage anyone who has any information to come forward and speak to us.
"Extra officers will be on patrol in the area to offer reassurance to residents and also to send out the message that anyone even considering using a firearm on our streets will have the full weight of the law brought upon them.
"We understand that any incidents of this kind will undoubtedly cause great concern in the community. However, there is significant work ongoing with officers from the Xcalibre Task Force to rid the streets of firearms and continue in our reductions in serious and violent crime in the city of Salford.
“GMP has worked hard to reduce firearms discharges and related criminality. Last year saw the lowest level of firearms discharges in several years. Although these incidents are serious, we have achieved much success in imprisoning members of organised crime groups and have recovered a number of firearms.”
Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 0161 856 5351 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
