A seven year-old boy has died from a suspected heart attack while playing football.
Talented Ciaran Geddes was discovered lying lifeless on the floor of an all-weather pitch in Warrington by his grandad who was looking for him to tell him his tea was ready.
The pupil of Locking Stumps Primary School was a huge fan of Chester FC and is thought to have caught the eye of the team's scouts.
Tributes have been left at the gates of the sports area on Glover Road in Birchwood where Ciaran - affectionately called 'Boo' by his parents - was found on Tuesday evening.
Flowers, cards teddy bears and football scarves, along with a framed photograph of Ciaran smiling with his face cupped by his hands, mark a promising life cut short.
His devastated family have released a statement: "Ciaran was our young, rising star, he shined brightly in our lives.
"He was taken from us too soon but will never be far from our thoughts and dreams.
"His football was everything to him, and his beloved Chester FC.
"He lived with joy in his heart as well as a love for his family.
"His smile was infectious and it is how we will remember him. He will sleep soundly now. We miss you Boo and will see you again."
Locking Stumps Primary School head teacher John Littler said: "The whole school community is deeply shocked and saddened by the sudden death of Ciaran.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
A Chester Constabulary spokespokesman said: "At 6.15pm on Tuesday, Cheshire Police and ambulance were called to Glover Road following a report of a seven-year-old boy who had collapsed.
"He was taken to Warrington Hospital where he sadly later died.
"A post mortem examination will take place in due course."
The youngster was a life-long Chester FC fan and was one of the mascots when the team played against FC United of Manchester in August 2011 at the Exacta Stadium.
He walked out with captain George Horan and also had a kickaround with the players of before the team went on to win with a 2-1 score.
A spokesperson from Chester FC said: "We would like to extend it's sincerest condolences to the family at this time and have offered support wherever needed.
"It goes without saying that this is tragic news and has left everyone at the Club stunned and saddened.
"We are sure that every Chester fan will be devastated at reading this news.
"We plan to pay tribute to young Ciaran prior to the game against Marine on Saturday at the Exacta Stadium, with a one minute applause prior to kick off."
