Police are appealing for witnesses of a serious assault that took place in Urmston, Greater Manchester in the early hours of Friday 24th March.

The "unprovoked" attack left a 25-year-old man with a double jaw fracture after being punch in the face twice on his way home from the Boogie Piano Lounge on Atkinson Road at around 2:45am.

Police are seeking a Caucasian man in his early 20s, described as stockily built with a shaved head, in connection with the incident.

The victim, who is said to have gotten into a disagreement with his attacker before being struck down without warning, was treated in hospital where metal plates were fitted to his jaw. The offender fled the scene.

Detective Constable Lee Attenborough of Greater Manchester Police said: "This was an entirely unprovoked attack which has left the victim severely injured.

"Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is asked to call us."

Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 0161 856 7671 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
