This Saturday, 4 February, sees the first ever Piccadilly by Design market in the heart of the city.

Due to take place on the first Saturday of every month, the inaugural opening of Manchester's newest market will be at 10am on Saturdayin Piccadilly Gardens, with stalls closing at 5.30pm.

The market will focus on local independent designers and artisans selling their own designer handmade clothes, fashion accessories and other bespoke products.

Featuring stalls such as Ruby Tuesday, selling vintage inspired hand-made jewellery, Mother Said I Never Should, offering glass, wirework and silver clay fusion pieces, and Shabby But Chic with their handmade household goods, the market will be the perfect source of unique gifts.

Original mounted photography by Charlotte Newton, pop record clocks from Popster and a selection of individually designed clothing are just some of the other one-of-a-kind products on offer.

Catering for all the gourmets will be a selection of tasty treats from Sweet Octopus selling handmade Japanese cakes and desserts, cupcakes from Annie's Cakery, and authentic Thai and Cantonese cuisine from Buddha Lounge Restaurant Ltd.

Councillor Paul Andrews, executive member for neighbourhood services, said: "With its focus on independent designers and craftspeople, Piccadilly by Design is certain to offer something a little different. Manchester has a fantastic selection of specialist markets and Piccadilly by Design is an exciting addition to our programme."
