Greater Manchester entrepreneur launches pest control business

A man from Greater Manchester has founded a pest control business after a lengthy period out of work.

Elliot Lowe's Cavalry Pest Solutions is now accepting clients, helping them rid their properties of pests such as rats, cockroaches, wasps, moles, foxes and beetles.

Elliot started the business after seeking advice from Blue Orchid, through the Government’s NEA (New Enterprise Allowance) programme. He said the venture was inspired by his passion for animals.

The 38-year-old, who completed the Level Two Award in Pest Management last year and is currently working towards the Level Two certificate, owns two lurcher dogs and four ferrets, which he uses to assist him when out on assignments.

He said: “Blue Orchid have played a vital role in giving me the support and assistance I needed to get my business off the ground. My mentor David Hardy educated me on business planning, banking, accessing funding and also the law – I have to thank them for helping to make my business dream a reality after 18 months of unemployment.”

In April, Elliot was named Apprentice of the Year by Killgerm, one of the biggest brands in the UK pest control industry.
