Facebook's marketing and growth specialists have teamed up with Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce to host a workshop in the city centre aimed at small businesses.

The breakfast event, taking place at The Studio on Lever Street, aims to provide practical advice on how to use social media in a professional context.

Topics covered include building and maintaining a Facebook page for your company, engaging fans, and mastering advertising.

The workshop is the third of six being held across the UK in association with the British Chamber of Commerce.

Simon Milner, Facebook’s UK and Ireland Policy Director said: “Many small businesses have thrived despite difficult economic conditions in recent years, thanks to savvy entrepreneurs spotting the opportunity to benefit from new technologies which bring people closer together.

"We want more businesses to prosper in this way, which is why we are rolling out this series of initiatives to give all businesses, whatever their digital experience to date, the confidence to use Facebook as an efficient and highly rewarding platform for growth.”

Research published by Deloitte in January suggested that the growth of Facebook and mobile applications has contributed an estimated £2.2 billion to UK GDP and created 18,400 jobs in Britain.

Facebook for Business: Growing Your Business Socially takes place at The Studio, 51 Lever Street in Manchester City centre on 1st June between 10am and 12pm.
