Version One and partners Virgin Trains have been named as finalists in the ‘Green IT Project of the Year’ category at this year’s prestigious BusinessGreen Leaders Awards.
Virgin Trains has been saving 150,000 sheets of A4 paper per year with the help of Version One’s document imaging solution DbArchive.
The joint initiative was recently hailed at the Green IT Awards 2012.
Andy Cross, Business Support Director for Virgin Trains, said: “As a leading service driven company, we recognise that we have a responsibility to the environment.
"Since the project began in 2008, Version One’s document imaging solution has transformed our back office processes. With less paper, our finance department is now operating as efficiently as possible, further supporting our environmental agenda.”
Now in their second year, the BusinessGreen Leaders Awards showcases new, eco-friendly technologies. The ‘Green IT Project of the Year’ category will be judged by a panel of 17 leading green business executives, commentators and last year’s winners.
Individuals from the World Wildlife Fund, Renewable Energy Association, Pricewaterhouse Coopers and other environmental organisations will judge this year's prize.
Greg Ford, Version One's Managing Director, added: "Becoming a finalist in The BusinessGreen Leaders Awards is a coveted accolade for companies operating in the ever expanding green economy.
"To be shortlisted amongst such stiff competition is testament to our green initiative as well as the innovative ways in which Version One’s solutions are helping businesses, like Virgin Trains, to improve their effect on the environment."
Award winners will be announced at a ceremony on Wednesday 4th July at the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington, London.
